Mick Mahoney ECD of Rainey Kelly charged Peter Raeburn with creating the theme and the soundtrack to the BBC Commonwealth Games 2014. This was a far reaching and ambitious multi-platform campaign. Driven by the challenge of scoring the ‘unfriendly games’ Peter composed this epic piece. We pulled together a crack team with Jay James, as executive producer, to bring this project together including Nick Foster as co-writer and Evan Jolly as orchestrator and conductor. The TV trail is directed by Noah Conopask from The Sweet Shop.
We recorded with the Shotts & Dykehead Drum Corp led by soloist and leader Jim Kilpatrick MBE and with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra with Martin Storey as lead Cellist. The recordings took place at the BBC City Halls in Glasgow. Sessions at Soundtree with Luis Almau and Luke Fabia with Tom Brewins on drums and Abbey Road with Simon Rhodes.
