Check out this great review of Spy, from this week’s Time Out magazine.
‘The accidental secret agent gag has been told at length in Chuck, but Spy plays it harder for laughs and has an identifiably British bent. Darren Boyd is Tim, the man in question, hated by his precocious son, stuck in a dead-end job (just down the road from Time Out, as it happens) and approaching middle age only reluctantly. One application for the civil service later, Tim is in front of Robert Lindsay’s psychotic new spymaster, The Examiner, and being handed a gun. Boyd, born to bemused physical comedy, gives great everyman, while Lindsay plays it the only way he can after a decade down the ‘My Family’ cul-de-sac: like his reputation’s on the line. An old idea given a lively new twist, and potentially the best of Sky1’s new autumn shows.’
