Rise Films and ITV 2’s brilliant new comedy Plebs follows the lives of two mates, Marcus and Stylax, and their awkward slave Grumio as they settle into their new home in the ancient city of Rome. Billed by Radio Times as the new Inbetweeners, the six-part series will see the guys “try to get laid, hold down jobs and climb the social ladder in the big city”.
Written by Tom Basden and Sam Leifer, who also directs, Plebs is accompanied by a backdrop of ska and reggae – with both old classics and new originals providing the soundtrack to 27 B.C Rome. Jay James, the show’s music supervisor, cleared the rights to artists such as Toots & The Maytals, Baba Brooks and Beanie Man whilst Oli Julian composed all original tracks – including the show’s theme Do As The Romans Do.
Plebs will be on air soon but in the mean time, check out a couple of teasers.
This one’s not to be missed!
